NEWS AND INFORMATION OF INTEREST

Mason Law Successfully Completes Its Most Ambitious Fundraising Effort to Date!

The Alumni Challenge Campaign was initiated by a leadership group of alumni who pledged gifts totaling $100,000 to Mason Law when 1,000 of their fellow alumni made a gift of any amount to the law school.

The campaign evolved into the most ambitious fundraising effort ever in Mason Law's 34-year history, with a goal of getting 1,000 alumni to give by the end of 2007.

The School of Law completed the Alumni Challenge participation goal in late July 2007, five months ahead of the December 31 deadline. Of the 1,000 alumni donors, 975 made gifts in fiscal year 2007. This equated to a participation rate of 20 percent, the highest rate for any academic unit in the history of the university.

For additional information, please contact Christopher Corish, director of development, at 703-993-9346 or ccorish@gmu.edu.

Law Firm Challenge Comes to a Successful Conclusion

The Mason Law Alumni Law Firm Challenge concluded on December 31, 2007. Over 30 law firms participated, with 18 reaching 100 percent participation. Special recognition was given to Smolen Plevy as the top contributing law firm, and for highest average contribution per graduate, during the Law Firm Challenge.

All firms that accepted the Challenge and achieved 100 percent participation were recognized in a full-page advertisement in Virginia Lawyers Weekly in February and at a reception.
