Notice: The recarpeting project has progressed much more quickly than originally anticipated, so the Law Library's first floor entrance will reopen on Friday, August 5

The Law Library will be installing new carpet on the first floor beginning Tuesday, July 26. During this period the library will remain open weekdays, and the entrance will be located on the second floor through the stairwell on the Kirkwood side of the building. Materials and other services on the first floor will not be directly accessible to  library users. Please see staff for help.

Circulation and Reference staff will be located on the second floor of the library in Room 248. Additional public kiosks with legal databases will be moved to the second floor and will be located adjacent to the photocopy alcove on the second floor. Patrons may use the law school’s public elevators to access the entrance on the second floor or use the Kirkwood stairwell.

While the first floor is closed, the Copy Center will be open for business as usual.  Job requests may be submitted via e-mail (ARLPRTSV@GMU.EDU) or dropped off at the temporary location of the Circulation Desk on the 2d floor of the Law Library.  Completed jobs will be delivered to offices free of charge during this period.  The Mason Money Machine located on the first floor of the Law Library will be disconnected and temporarily moved into the Copy Center.  It will not be operational during this period.  Library Patrons are encouraged to either add money to their account online at or use the Mason Money Machine located inside the Founders Hall Library on their first floor.

We apologize in advance for any inconvenience that this project creates for our users.
