A Message from the GMU Parking Services Office

Updated 1/24/2011: The Parking Office has moved to Founders Hall, Room 219. Individuals with Founders permits may start parking in the garage on Monday, January 10. To access the Founders Hall garage, use the alley behind Founders Hall, turning off either Kirkwood Drive (between Hazel Hall and Truland Building) or Washington Boulevard at the traffic signal between Giant and GMU Foundation Building (come down the hill and go past the GMUF garage and the Original Building loading dock).

B1 of Hazel Hall (which you access through the Founders garage) remains reserved for faculty and staff who have upgraded to a Founders parking permit.

B2 of Hazel Hall is open and accessible by the passenger elevators in the law school.

The Parking Services Office is excited to announce the opening of the Founders Hall Parking Deck, located directly under the new Founders Hall Building. The Founders Hall Parking Deck will be a reserved parking deck that guarantees all Founders Hall permit holders a parking space in that structure. Founders Hall permits will also be valid in the non-restricted spaces of the general permit areas on both the Fairfax and Prince William campuses. The Founders Hall permits will not be valid in any of the other parking facilities on the Arlington campus (Foundation Parking Deck or the Truland Building). The Founders Hall Parking Garage permits are available for sale in person at the Arlington Parking Services office. The Parking Office is located in Founders Hall, Room 219. The Founders Hall Parking Deck requires the use of a unique electronic access device, so you will need to visit the Arlington Parking Services’ office to obtain the device. There is a $25 refundable deposit that is required for the access device. Permits for the Founders Hall Parking Deck will be $260 (same pricing for Spring parking deck permits on the Fairfax campus), and will be valid through the end of the Summer, August 15, 2011. Faculty and staff may upgrade their annual payroll deduction permit to the Founders Hall Parking Deck. The cost will be $125, or $20.84 per paycheck if on payroll deduction for the remainder of the academic year, plus the $25 refundable deposit for the access device.

These permits will be available on a first come-first served basis, and we’ll only be able to sell a limited number of them to ensure that all Founders Hall permit holders are guaranteed a space in the parking deck at all times.

Spring Semester Permits to park in the Foundation Parking Deck and the Truland Building are now available for purchase online at parking.gmu.edu. All permits sold online will be mailed to the address that you specify and you should receive them within 3-10 business days from the date of purchase. If you are unable to purchase your permit until the start of the semester, you can still purchase your permit online and have it mailed to you. Simply print off the receipt page and place it on your dashboard to use as a temporary permit for up to two weeks while you wait for your permit to arrive.
