Biographical Sketch
Douglas Smith is an Associate Professor of Law at George Mason University School of Law. His research interests include constitutional law and constitutional history, civil procedure, mass torts, corporate and securities law. Professor Smith has published numerous scholarly articles and essays, including recent articles appearing in the Northwestern University Law Review, the University of Illinois Law Review, and the Harvard Journal of Law and Public Policy.
Professor Smith comes to the law school from Kirkland & Ellis LLP, where he litigated cases in state and federal courts across the country at both the trial and appellate level. Before joining Kirkland Ellis LLP, Professor Smith clerked for the Honorable David B. Sentelle of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit. He holds a J.D. from Northwestern University School of Law; an M.B.A. from the University of Chicago Graduate School of Business; and a B.S. and B.A. from the State University of New York at Buffalo.
