Biographical Sketch
ASSISTANT PROFESSOR OF LAW SAMSON VERMONT recently transitioned from law practice to academics after earning an LLM from the University of Virginia School of Law and then completing a stint at the University of Michigan Law School, where he was the Humphrey Fellow in Law and Economics. Before moving into academics, he practiced patent law in the Washington, DC, office of Hunton & Williams, where he specialized in chemical, biotech and pharmaceutical inventions. He is the founder and former editor-in-chief of the monthly periodical Patent Strategy & Management and a former Faculty editor-in-chief of the Federal Circuit Bar Journal. He is also a member of the Patent Bar, the Georgia Bar, and the DC Bar.Some recent publications include: The Angel is in the Big Picture: A Response to Lemley (Michigan Law Review, May 2007); Independent Invention as a Defense to Patent Infringement (Michigan Law Review, Dec. 2006, reprinted in Icfai Journal of Intellectual Property Rights, Aug. 2007, and in Journal of the Patent and Trademark Office Society, April 2008); Less "Gotcha": A Response to Milgram, (Journal of the Patent and Trademark Office Society, April 2008); and The Golden Hand Formula (The Green Bag, Winter 2008).
