Biographical Sketch

HANS-BERND SCHƒFER is a Visiting Distinguished Professor of Law and Economics and he is also on the Faculty of Economics at the University of Hamburg. In addition, he is director of the Ph.D. Graduate College on Law and Economics. His main fields of interest are economic analysis of civil law and development economics. He is co-author of the textbook "The Economic Analysis of Civil Law" which was recently published by Edward Elgar, and he has authored a series of articles on law and economics. He also helped set up George Mason School of Law's Exchange Program in Law and Economics.

Professor Sch‰fer teaches courses dealing with the European Constitution and European Law.
