We have released the write-on competition packet, which is available here. The competition will consist of a casenote based on the case United States v. Moussaoui, 382 F.3d 453 (4th Cir. 2004). Additionally, write-on candidates must complete a short Bluebooking exercise. Good luck!

The Burton Awards, established in 1999, is a non-profit program run in association with the Library of Congress. Student awards are given each year to fifteen law school students from across the nation whose articles exemplify effective legal writing in plain and concise language. We have released the write-on competition packet, which is available here. The competition will consist of a casenote based on the case Mayer v. Monroe County Cmty. Sch. Corp., 474 F.3d 477 (7th Cir. 2007). Additionally, transfer write-on candidates must complete a short Bluebooking exercise.

June 25, 2008 – Transfer Write-On Details
We will release the write-on competition packet (including detailed instructions) on July 1 by posting it on the GMLR and CRLJ websites. The assignment will be a closed research project and submissions should be no more than 10 pages. Submissions are due on July 10 via e-mail. The write-on competition packet for currently enrolled first-year students is now available at http://www.law.gmu.edu/gmulawreview/Membership/write-on, and students may read through the instructions if they would like to get a better sense of what the write-on entails (the topic and substance of the transfer write-on, of course, will be completely different). Both Law Review and CRLJ will make membership selection decisions in mid to late July. Both journals have recently updated and re-designed websites with pertinent information about membership, publication, and other items that might be of interest to transfer applicants, so students can visit them for more information.
