Laptop

  1. Activate the touch screen console, if you haven't done so already. (Touch the screen. If it prompts you for a PIN, enter the PIN. Call 3-8226 if you don't know the PIN. If it doesn't prompt you for a PIN, the system is already activated.)
  2. Plug in the laptop's power cord to the power outlet next to the touchscreen.
  3. Plug in the the VGA cable to the laptop.
  4. If necessary, activate VGA presentation mode. You may need to type Fn + F8, for example. The keyboard combination depends on the model of laptop.
  5. Plug in the network cable to the laptop
  6. Plug in the audio cable to the laptop (optional).
  7. Touch the "Laptop" button on the left side of the console. The screen at the front of the classroom will automatically lower (if it isn't already down).
  8. Optional: Open drawer and remove the clicker/pointer if you want to navigate through PowerPoint slide shows from anywhere in the room. Refer to the clicker/pointer tutorial for more information.
  9. To adjust the volume, use the volume control buttons to the right of the touchscreen.
  10. Turn things off when you're done.
    1. Unplug all of the cables to the laptop.
    2. Remove the USB receiver of the clicker/pointer and insert it in the back of the clicker/pointer (if applicable).
    3. To turn off the whole system at the end of a class, click the "End" button on the touchscreen.
  11. Lock the drawer (if it is unlocked).
