Library and Technology Services for Faculty

Please feel free to contact your Liaison for more information about any of these services.

Library Services

Book Check-out

Books may be checked-out in person at the Law Library’s Circulation Desk located on the first floor or by sending a request to your library liaison. You may also borrow materials from the other GMU campus libraries. Your library liaison will ask you to sign a Library Book Charges Proxy Form, so that he/she may check out GMU library materials on your behalf.

BNA E-Mail Highlights

The Law Library subscribes to the complete package of BNA reference and news titles. To sign-up to receive email highlights from one of these titles, please go to BNA E-Mail Preferences and choose either “BNA news services” or “BNA reference libraries”. Please note that if you are off-campus you will need the GMU ID to access this service. Please contact Iva Futrell for this information (ifutrell@gmu.edu).

Current Index to Legal Periodicals

Faculty members may sign-up for a customized weekly e-mail edition of the Current Index to Legal Periodicals (CILP) published by the University of Washington Law Library. This index provides current indexing of articles from major law reviews and journals. The customized version (SmartCILP) lets you choose to receive a table of contents from individual law reviews and/or items based on selected subject areas.

To set up your customized profile, go to http://depts.washington.edu/scilp/scilp3.cgi. Your affiliation is George Mason University. You will need to obtain your authorization code from your liaison. Also, please contact your library liaison if you need print copies of articles from CILP.

Interlibrary Loan

Materials not available in the Law Library may be obtained from libraries outside GMU through interlibrary loan. Please send your interlibrary loan requests to your library liaison.

Intranet
