Loislaw: An Introduction

The law school has an agreement with Loislaw to provide students complimentary access to Loislaw online research. Loislaw is offered on a year round basis. Unlike Lexis and Westlaw, students are encouraged to take the service with them to part time and summer positions. Students also have free access for six months after graduation.

Loislaw offers legal content including:

  • up-to-date cases, statutes, rules and regulations
  • other primary law for all 50 states and federal jurisdictions
  • secondary sources and featured products are not included in the free student password

Loislaw offers many convenient tools and services, including:

  • GlobalCite a citator service, LawWatch alert, and Find A Case;
  • simple, flexible Boolean searching;
  • intuitive navigation and hyperlinks among cases, statutes, and other documents;
  • efficient searching across multiple jurisdictions;
  • a Client Billing Timer; and
  • Technical Support available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and in-house attorneys offering Research Assistance, Monday through Friday from 7 am to 6 pm (CST). ; Phone: 877-471-5632

To register, first stop by the Reference Desk to obtain the GMUSL access code and the Loislaw Subscriber Handbook. Then, go to www.loislawschool.com. Select Register Here (at top) and fill in a brief form. At the bottom right is a place for the access code. Fill in the GMUSL access code. You may use any ID and password you wish.
