Greater Washington, DC/Baltimore Public Service Career Fair, January 27, 2006

The fourth annual Greater Washington DC/Baltimore Public Service Career Fair will be held on January 27, 2006, at George Mason University School of Law. The career fair is hosted by American University, Washington College of Law; Catholic University, Columbus School of Law; the Federal Bar Association; George Mason University School of Law; Howard University School of Law; University of Baltimore School of Law; University of the District of Columbia, David A. Clarke School of Law; and University of Maryland School of Law. Federal, state, and local government employers as well as public interest organizations will conduct interviews and meet with students less formally during table talk sessions.

Below is information about: (1) the schedule of events, (2) table talk, (3) interviews, (4) student check in at the career fair, (5) the process for first-year students to sign up for interviews, (6) obtaining assistance during the career fair, and (7) inclement weather procedures.

Schedule of Events - January 27, 2006

8:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m.

Employer check in for employers participating in the career fair all day or the morning session only (Room 221)

Student check in for students participating in the career fair all day or the morning session only (Room 225)

9:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Table talk in the Atrium of the Law School Building

Individual interview sessions in various locations in the Law School Building

12:30 p.m. to 1:40 p.m.

Employer luncheon sponsored by the Federal Bar Association in the Graduate School Building (red brick building)

Student break

Student check in for students participating in the afternoon session only (Room 225)

Employer check in for employers participating in the afternoon session only (Room 221)

1:40 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Table Talk

All students from the law schools hosting the career fair are invited to participate in table talk sessions at the career fair. During those sessions, students can stop by the employers' tables to drop off resumes and discuss summer or post-graduate employment.

Interviews

Interviewing employers will review resumes previously submitted by students and schedule interviews prior to the career fair. During the career fair, those employers will meet individually with the students they have selected.

Student Check In

Students need to check in prior to participating in the career fair. Students participating in the entire day or the morning session only may check in for the career fair between 8:00 a.m. and 9:00 a.m. in Room 225 on the second floor of the law school. Students who will participate in the afternoon session only may check in between 12:30 p.m. and 1:40 p.m. in Room 225. During check in, students will receive a map of the law school, a list of employers participating in table talk, a list of employer interview rooms, and a name tag.

Assistance During the Career Fair

If you forget your interview time or room, lose your name tag, or need any other assistance during the career fair, please visit Career Development and Alumni Services in Room 370 on the third floor of the law school. Please note that student check in will not be held in Room 370. Student check in will be held in Room 225 on the second floor of the law school between 8:00 a.m. and 9:00 a.m. for students participating in the entire day of the career fair or the morning session only. Students participating in the afternoon session only may check in for the career fair in Room 225 between 12:30 p.m. and 1:40 p.m.

Inclement Weather Procedures

In the event of inclement weather the day of the career fair, students should visit George Mason law school's web site, www.law.gmu.edu, or call (703) 993-8000 for information concerning delays in starting the career fair or, in extreme weather conditions, its cancellation.
