Annual Murphy Pool Tournament on April 2

Join Mason Law students, faculty, and staff at Carpool in Arlington at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 2, 2006, for the 8th Annual Murphy Pool Tournament honoring the late Professor Richard S. Murphy.

The Murphy Pool Tournament was established in 1999 by Professor Murphy's students Lizette Benedi ('99), Rich Kelsey ('99), and A.J. Dudley ('99). Professor Murphy, a popular professor of contracts law before his untimely death in 1997, was a fine pool player in his own right and was known to challenge his students in a few games at Carpool. The tournament has turned into a popular tradition not only with those graduates who attended Professor Murphy's classes but also with the entire Mason law community, with all proceeds of the tournament going to the Richard S. Murphy Student Scholarship Fund.

The tournament is open to all School of Law graduates, students, faculty, staff, significant others and spouses, and friends of the law school. As in the past, the tournament consists of two-person teams. The required donation is $20 per student team and $30 for alumni, faculty, and staff teams. Alumni, faculty, and staff should contact Christine Malone in the Career Development and Alumni Services Office at or 703-993-8112 to register, and their payment can be taken at the door. Student registration and payment will be handled through the SBA Office at 703-993-8160.
