ACLU-GMUSL to Sponsor Panel Discussion on Aftermath of Hurricanes Katrina and Rita
The ACLU-GMUSL would like to invite you to a panel discussion on the aftermath of Hurricanes Katrina and Rita with speakers Sheila Crowley, President of the National Low Income Housing Coalition, and Tom Jawetz, Immigration Detention Staff Attorney at the ACLU National Prison Project. This event will be held on Wednesday, April 11, at 5:00 p.m. in Room 120.
The panelists will discuss housing and criminal justice issues that were illuminated and exacerbated after the hurricanes and which persist today. Furthermore, some of the students who went on the spring break trip to New Orleans will be on hand to discuss their work and experience as well as any questions about how to plan your own student trip. During the event, there will be a slide show with pictures from New Orleans so that you can see the situation for yourself.
