Zywicki Moderates AEI Discussion of University Endowments
University Endowments: Their Role in Higher Education and Possibilities for Reform was the title of a discussion sponsored by the American Enterprise Institute on February 1 in Washington, DC, in which Professor Todd Zywicki, who also is an alumni trustee of Dartmouth College, served as moderator for the event's first panel discussion.
The AEI program took a look at university endowments, which have grown substantially over the past decade because of aggressive investment in a strong stock market. Both the public and the Congress have begun to focus interest in the growth of these endowments while college costs have escalated. Event panelists included discussion of the need and implications of possible reforms.
Dean Zerbe, Mason Law Class of 1997 and tax counsel for Senator Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa), participated in the day's second panel.
