Espinel Addresses Congressional Intellectual Property Caucus
On Monday, February 25th, Professor Victoria Espinel addressed the Congressional Intellectual Property Caucus to discuss pending legislation on intellectual property rights. The "PRO IP" bill was introduced on December 5th by a bipartisan group of members of the House Judiciary Committee.
Fellow panelists included Laura Tyson, Professor of Business Administration and Economics at the Haas School of Business, UC Berkeley, and former head of the National Economic Council; Loren Yager, Directer of International Affairs and Trade at the GAO; and Chris Israel, United States Coordinator for International IP Enforcement at the Department of Commerce.
The discussion focused on the increasing economic costs and safety concerns presented by counterfeiting and piracy and coordination of the United States Government's intellectual property enforcement structure.
