Alvaré Speaks to Women's Conference

Professor Helen Alvaré was the featured luncheon speaker for an April 25 women's conference held in Washington, D.C. The program, titled "New Springtime for Women," was co-sponsored by the Pope John Paul II Cultural Center and the Papal Foundation, along with the women's group ENDOW (Educating on the Nature and Dignity of Women). Attendees at the conference had an opportunity to hear a bioethics panel and to meet with Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito.

Alvaré addressed the gathering on the topic John Paul II and Benedict XVI: Two Modern Popes Take on 21st Century "Women's Issues."

Alvaré is a Consultor for Pope Benedict XVI's Pontifical Council for the Laity, in addition to her duties as a law professor at George Mason.
