Newman, Espinel Named to Advisory Board of Global Innovation Forum
Distinguished Adjunct Professor Pauline Newman and Visiting Assistant Professor of Law Victoria Espinel have been named to the Brain Trust, an advisory board of innovation thought leaders for the Global Innovation Forum (GIF).
The Global Innovation Forum was created in January 2009 by the National Foreign Trade Council, a leading business organization advocating an open, rules-based global trading system, in an effort to foster an increased awareness and understanding of global policies that affect innovation. The Brain Trust will support the GIF's efforts to increase awareness and understanding of innovation policy and its effect on jobs and the development of solutions to global challenges. GIF's inaugural event took place in April at Howard University in Washington, D.C., with newly confirmed United States Trade Representative Ron Kirk as speaker.
Judge Newman has been a member of the United States Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit since 1984 and teaches Legal and Economic Theory of Intellectual Property at Mason Law.
Before coming to the law school, Espinel was Assistant United States Trade Representative for Intellectual Property and Innovation at the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative. She teaches Intellectual Property and International Trade.
