Speed Networking Event and Dessert Reception February 17
The George Mason Speed Networking Event and Dessert Reception will take place on Wednesday, February 17 from 7:30 - 9:00 p.m.
What is it? CAAS, in conjunction with the Fairfax, Arlington, and Federal Bar Associations, presents this event for Mason law students to meet and mingle with attorneys from local law firms and government agencies. Students will conduct informational interviews, develop their networking skills, discover different practice areas, and learn more about job hunting and the local market in a casual environment.
How does it work? Students sit at tables with alumni, bar representatives, and other local attorneys to ask questions to learn more about practice areas, local firms and agencies, and job hunting. When a bell sounds, students move on to the next chair to begin a new round with a different attorney. During the second half of the event, students will have the opportunity to mingle with the attorneys and to enjoy dessert, coffee, and a delicious hot chocolate bar. CAAS counselors will be available to guide students through the event, facilitate introductions, and encourage networking.
How can I participate? All students are encouraged to participate! If you would like to participate, please send an email with the subject line “Speed Networking” to firstname.lastname@example.org. Please indicate your name, class year, phone number, and email address. Please sign up early; this event is very popular and space is limited. Your participation will be confirmed by return email.
Whether students have a particular interest in law firms, government agencies, or simply want the advice of someone who has survived the ups and downs of law school, this event is a unique opportunity to establish relationships with potential mentors and colleagues. Please note: this is a professional networking opportunity and not an interview. Students should not bring resumes.
Please contact Kim Baxter at email@example.com or the CAAS office if you have any additional questions.
