Zywicki Participates in Heritage Foundation Presentation

Professor Todd Zywicki participated in a March 11 discussion entitled "Protecting Consumers in the Financial Marketplace: Thinking Outside the Boxes," sponsored by the Heritage Foundation in Washington, D.C.

The purpose of the discussion was to examine the question of whether consumers need a new regulatory agency to protect them in the financial marketplace, a question currently being debated in Congress. Panelists considered whether the proposed financial services reform was necessary and whether it might provide more harm than good. Also considered were the issues of where such a new regulatory agency would be located and what powers it would be accorded.

Joining Zywicki in the discussion were Rep. Scott Garrett (R–NJ); David John, senior research fellow at the Heritage Foundation; and James Gattuso, senior fellow of regulatory policy at the Thomas A. Roe Institute for Economic Policy Studies at the Heritage Foundation.
