Somin Joins Debate on Healthcare Reform

Professor Ilya Somin participated in an April 12 debate at Amherst College entitled, “Is Health Care Reform Constitutional?”

Second in a series presented by the Amherst Political Union, the debate brought together four prominent legal scholars who probed the constitutionality of the individual mandate, a central provision of the Affordable Care Act.

In addition to Somin, the event participants included Akhil Reed Amar, Sterling Professor of Law and Political Science at Yale University; Roderick M. Hills Jr., William T. Comfort III Professor of Law at New York University Law School; and Ilya Shapiro, a senior fellow in constitutional studies at the Cato Institute and editor-in-chief of the “Cato Supreme Court Review.”
