Somin Podcast Addresses Individual Mandate
Professor Ilya Somin was a participant in a Federalist Society podcast in which he discussed the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act of 2010 and its individual mandate requiring nearly all Americans to obtain health insurance or pay a penalty. At the center of the discussion was the question of whether Congress has the constitutional authority to impose such a mandate.
In late March the Supreme Court heard oral arguments in U.S. Department of Health and Human Services v. Florida, which is one of three cases before the Court involving the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act of 2010.
Joining Somin to discuss the individual mandate was Orin Kerr, a Professor of Law at the George Washington University Law School.
