Somin and Coauthors Discuss Book on Volokh Conspiracy Blogs and the ACA
On January 7, Professor Ilya Somin and his coauthors participated in a discussion of their book sponsored by The Heritage Foundation.
The subject book, A Conspiracy Against Obamacare: The Volokh Conspiracy and the Health Care Case, focuses on how the Volokh Conspiracy blog engaged in a discussion of the legal issues involved in the debate over the Affordable Care Act, subsequently playing a role in developing the constitutional arguments against the Act.
In addition to Somin, the panel featured his coauthors Randy Barnett, director of the Center for the Constitution at Georgetown University, and Orin Kerr, research professor at the George Washington University Law School, as well as editor Trevor Burrus, research fellow in the center for Constitutional Studies at Cato Institute. The discussion was moderated by John Malcolm, senior legal fellow at The Heritage Foundation.
The event will be broadcast on C-SPAN at various times and is available for viewing online via The Heritage Society's website.
The Volokh Conspiracy is a weblog started in 2002 by UCLA law professor Eugene Volokh that covers law and politics from a libertarian or conservative perspective. Bloggers for the site are primarily law professors.
