Elif Aksoy

Elif Aksoy, Class of ’16

Elif Aksoy says she “is not a traditional law student.” Deciding to tackle law school in George Mason’s highly ranked evening program, Elif recognized the challenges of working full time as a senior financial economist while in law school.

She chose George Mason for this challenge because when she was deciding among law schools, she said, “the Mason faculty and staff looked me in the eye and said that I would do great. Having experienced a variety of educational and professional settings, I can easily say that being with people who believe in you and who want to help you succeed makes a huge difference.”

Elif credits Mason’s rigorous four semester writing requirement as a difference maker in her legal experiences. “During my internships, I realized the value of Mason’s writing program. The brief I helped write for Mason’s Supreme Court Clinic was even cited in an opinion.”

Now in her fourth and final year, Elif understands that it is the people of Mason who really make it exceptional. “From preparing for exams to competing on the job market, Mason students support each other. At Mason, I have not only gotten a great legal education but also built life-long relationships that will continue to support me through my legal career.”

Elif will join the law firm of Jones Day after graduation.
