Mossoff Moderates Panel on Standard Essential Patents

Professor Adam Mossoff moderated a panel of experts at a July 10 Capitol Hill event sponsored by the Innovation Alliance to explain the critical role of standard setting organizations (SSOs) and the importance of maintaining protections afforded standard essential patents (SEPs).

Participating in the panel were Michael Biber, Vice President of IP Strategies at Dolby Laboratories; Bryan Giles, Sr. Patent Counsel at InterDigital Communications; and Alex Rogers, Sr. Vice President for Litigation at QUALCOMM.

Entitled "Standard Essential Patents: Why Efforts to Downgrade Patent Rights Would Hamper Innovation and Export American Jobs," the panel discussion was held in response to a Federal Trade Commission report on patents and judicial remedies that contained recommendations targeting SSOs and the patents included in standards.
