Somin Discusses Rationality and Political Ignorance

In an Exploring Liberty lecture Professor Ilya Somin discusses the theory of political ignorance. According to this theory, the majority of the electorate are not capable of making fully-informed political decisions because of insufficient knowledge, which Somin defends as being perfectly rational. Somin counters several arguments that discount the effects of political ignorance and explains the implications of this idea on the movement for limited government.

The lecture is available online in MP3 format in the Libertarianism Media Library and on You Tube.
