Treyger Discusses Probable Cause Issues in Post-Argument SCOTUS Podcast

Professor Elina Treyger was featured in a Federalist Society podcast concerning Florida v. Jardines and Florida v. Harris, two Supreme Court cases in which oral arguments were heard on October 31, 2012.

Both cases involve police dogs trained to detect illegal narcotics. In the first, the court considers whether using such a dog to sniff the exterior of a home suspected of housing marijuana plants constitutes a search under the Fourth Amendment requiring probable cause. The second case deals with the question of whether a narcotics detection dog's alert constitutes probable cause for search of a private vehicle.
