Krauss on Chevron’s RICO suit

In his Forbes column, Professor Michael Krauss discusses the recent decision in Chevron’s civil suit under the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act (RICO).

Speaking of U.S District Judge Lewis Kaplan, who presided over the case, Krauss writes, “[H]e is a straight shooter who does not believe that the poverty of [] an alleged tort victim and the wealth of a defendant entitles plaintiff to judgment. ‘There is no “Robin Hood” defense to illegal and wrongful conduct,’ [Judge Kaplan] wrote.”
