Malcolm Comments on Concealed Weapon Permits Ruling

Professor Joyce Lee Malcolm comments on a ruling by the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, which struck down a “good cause” requirement beyond self-defense in order for the San Diego County sheriff to issue a concealed weapon permit.

After the court barred the California Attorney General and an advocacy group from intervening in the case on November 12, Malcolm said of the ruling, “A right to bear arms is no right at all if you need to demonstrate a need to carry that firearm which satisfies the police.”
