Somin on Eminent Domain Proposal in Maryland

An article on the Wall Street Journal Law Blog discusses a proposal by Maryland lawmakers to use eminent domain to seize the property of the production company that has filmed the drama series “House of Cards” in Maryland for two seasons. Commenting on the proposal, Professor Ilya Somin said, “In general, this kind of thing is very unusual because state governments understand that if they try to condemn mobile property, they’re just shooting themselves in the foot in the long run.”
