Congressman David W. Jolly Named School of Law Distinguished Alumnus of the Year
Congressman David Jolly ('01) was presented with the School of Law's Distinguished Alumnus of the Year award on April 13, 2016 as part of the University's Celebration of Distinction. Congressman Jolly represents Florida’s 13th Congressional District. He was first elected to the U.S. House of Representatives in March of 2014. He is now in his second term and serves on the House Appropriations Committee, sitting on three Appropriations Subcommittees. Among other issues, he has introduced legislation to improve the effectiveness of the Congress and improve hospital care and medical services for all veterans.
Shortly after his graduation, Congressman Jolly endowed a scholarship for law students noting, “Mason's evening law program had an immeasurable impact on my career and has created countless opportunities. I established the scholarship for working professionals as a way of giving back to the Mason community. The hope is that the scholarship will challenge other alumni to consider how they might support Mason Law and its students.”
