Jina Hwang: Passionate about Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Principles

Jina Hwang

Jina Hwang, JD ’05, is passionate about promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion principles in the various roles in which she serves.

Ms. Hwang serves as an adjunct professor at Scalia Law, leading courses and discussions on diversity, equity, and inclusion. She currently serves on the board of the Corley Institute, Dean’s Alumni Advisory Board, and DEI Advisory Board. She recently led the law school in the 21-Day Racial Equity Habit-Building Challenge, exploring perspectives in race, privilege, and intersectionality.

As the Counsel to the Inspector General at the Federal Reserve Board and Consumer Financial Protection Bureau OIG, Ms. Hwang advises on a wide variety of legal and strategic matters, including employment law, ethics, audits, and civil, criminal, and administrative investigations.

Ms. Hwang launched her career in the inspector general community as a 3L, clerking for the Department of Transportation OIG. Upon graduating, she served as an attorney-advisor at the Department of Energy OIG, prior to joining the Board. Ms. Hwang serves in numerous leadership capacities in the federal government-wide IG community. She is a frequent lecturer at the IG Criminal Investigator Academy and recently received the Outstanding Service Award for her commitment towards advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion in the broader IG community.

She received her law degree from George Mason Law, her undergraduate degree from the University of Maryland, and is a member of the Maryland Bar.

Every evening, her virtual office transforms into a laser tag battleground, a story time nook, or a courtroom where she and her husband adjudicate screen time sanctions and appeals of vegetable mandates for their three sons.
