Helen Alvaré Addresses Religious Liberty Commission

Professor Helen M. Alvaré, the Robert A. Levy Endowed Chair in Law and Liberty at Scalia Law, testified before the Department of Justice’s Religious Liberty Commission at its hearing on April 13, 2026. The hearing, was held at the Museum of the Bible in Washington, D.C. and explored the state of religious liberty in the U.S.

Professor Alvaré is one of the nation’s leading voices on the First Amendment religion clauses. She is a Member of the Holy See’s Dicastery for Laity, Family and Life (Vatican City), an ABC news consultant on matters touching the Holy See, and has authored several books and articles on the First Amendment and related topics.
