Professor Burger Presents D.C. Bar CLE on Ethical Duties When Representing an Organization

Adjunct Professor Arthur D. Burger will present a new D.C. Bar continuing legal education (CLE) program, Ethical Duties When Representing an Organization. The CLE program features selected vignettes from the eighteen-video collection that Professor Burger created with GMU-TV. The videos bring legal ethics to life through dramatized hypothetical scenarios. Produced by GMU-TV on the Scalia Law campus the vignettes portray realistic situations that trigger the kinds of ethical dilemmas practitioners regularly encounter, from conflicts of interest and client confidentiality to counsel’s duties when an organization’s interests diverge from those of its individual constituents.

The CLE is the latest in a series of programs in which Burger has used the vignettes to teach ethics to practicing lawyers. Since Scalia Law and GMU-TV released the original set of videos in 2024, the collection has grown to eighteen and has drawn wide interest from law professors and attorneys across the country. All eighteen vignettes remain freely available to law professors and lawyers for educational use in law school classes, CLEs, and in-house training.

The D.C. Bar program underscores the continuing reach of a project that began at Scalia Law and has since become a resource for the broader national legal community.
