Scalia Law Leads All Law Schools in Judicial Appointments During President Trump’s Second Term

Scalia Law has seen more of its graduates appointed to the federal bench during President Trump’s second term than any other law school, according to a recent study conducted by Bloomberg Law. The U.S. Senate confirmed three Scalia Law alumni to federal district courts last year. This year, two more alums have been announced as nominees and, if confirmed, would bring the total to five. Yale comes in at number two with three confirmed or pending judicial selections, followed by several other schools, each with two confirmed or pending selections.
In discussing Scalia Law’s rise, Bloomberg quotes, Mike Fragoso, former chief counsel for then-Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.), “[Scalia Law gets] higher quality students who end up being attractive to judges as clerks and being attractive to law firms as associates, attractive to government agencies as people to work at them. Because of that, the stock keeps rising.” The article goes on to discuss how Scalia Law rose from 43rd in U.S. News’ 2010 law school ranking to a tie for 31st today and quotes Professor Robert Luther on the subject, “…we’ve really broken through and solidified ourselves as a national law school.”
