Biographical Sketch
David Deitch is a veteran trial lawyer and litigator with broad and deep experience in complex federal investigations and prosecutions. As a prosecutor, Professor Deitch served as an Assistant District Attorney in New York City, as an Associate Independent Counsel investigating then-Secretary of Interior Bruce E. Babbitt, as an Assistant United States Attorney for the District of Columbia, and as a trial lawyer in the Counterterrorism Section of the U.S. Department of Justice.
More recently, Professor Deitch has served as investigative counsel with the Special Inspector General for Pandemic Recovery and with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Office of Inspector General. In addition, he spent more than 15 years in private practice during which he represented numerous individuals in federal investigations and prosecutions, including as a member of the Criminal Justice Act panel representing indigent defendants in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia.
Professor Deitch is a member of the Bars of the Commonwealth of Virginia, the District of Columbia, the State of New York, and the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. He is also admitted to the Supreme Court of the United States; the U.S. Courts of Appeals for the First, Fourth, Eleventh and District of Columbia Circuit; the U.S. District Courts for the District of Columbia, the Northern District of Florida, the Eastern District of New York, the Northern District of New York, the Southern District of New York, the Western District of New York, the Eastern District of Virginia, and the Western District of Virginia; and the U.S. Court of Claims.
Professor Deitch began his career as a Trial Attorney with the Tennessee Valley Authority. After practicing employee benefits and employment law in private practice for several years, he was Associate General Counsel and Corporate Secretary for Sodexo, Inc. until his retirement.
