Heidi Mandanis Schooner

Biographical Sketch

Heidi Mandanis Schooner is a Professor of Law at Antonin Scalia Law School, George Mason University, teaching Contracts, Business Associations, Bank Regulation, and Scholarly Writing. Her scholarship examines the goal of financial stability through the regulation of financial institutions. She is the co-author of a textbook on international bank regulation: Global Bank Regulation: Principles and Policies (with Michael W. Taylor). Her articles have been featured in publications including the George Washington Law Review, Boston College Law Review, University of Georgia Law Review, Alabama Law Review, and the University of Pennsylvania Journal of Business Law. She has testified before the United States Senate Banking Committee and has served as a consultant to the International Monetary Fund and to various federal and state agencies.

Professor Schooner is an Emerita Professor of Law at the Columbus School of Law, Catholic University of America, having taught there for over 30 years. She also has been a visiting professor at Scalia Law, George Washington University Law School, and Suffolk University Law School. As a practicing lawyer, Professor Schooner was in house counsel for First American Metro Corp., a bank holding company. She also worked in the General Counsel’s Office of the Securities and Exchange Commission and as an associate with a D.C. area law firm. Professor Schooner received her bachelor’s degree in economics from Duke University with honors, and juris doctor from Georgetown University Law Center.
