Biographical Sketch
Brigadier General (Retired) Warren Wells served 28 years as an Army attorney, with assignments as a Senior Defense Counsel and a Regional Defense Counsel, where he led teams dedicated to defending the rights of Soldiers accused of misconduct. He also served as the Staff Judge Advocate (General Counsel) of 1st Infantry Division and Fort Riley, Kansas, and later of the XVIII Airborne Corps and Fort Bragg, North Carolina.
Professor Wells twice led the legal operations for multinational commands in Iraq during the fight against the Islamic State (ISIS), including during the nine-month Battle of Mosul in 2016-17. He concluded his career by standing up the Office of Special Trial Counsel, a Congressionally-mandated organization to prosecute serious offenses worldwide, and as an Assistant Judge Advocate General, helping advise the Army Staff within the Pentagon.
