Biographical Sketch
Rob Willey is the Faculty Services Librarian and Assistant Director of Communications at the law school, where his work sits at the intersection of legal information, technology, and communication.
On the library side, Rob manages the faculty liaison program and provides research and scholarship support to Scalia Law faculty, including SSRN services and research platform support. In the Reference Office, he offers research services to faculty, staff, students, and alumni, and he provides individual research instruction to students in the Scholarly Writing program.
Rob developed and co-teaches two technology-focused courses, AI and Legal Research and AI and Legal Tech. He also teaches Professional Responsibility in the LLM program. In the Legal Research, Writing and Analysis program, Rob provides support in research classes.
As Assistant Director of Communications, Rob helps to maintain the law school and law library websites, designs print and digital marketing materials in partnership with the Associate Deans for Admissions and Enrollment Management and External Affairs, oversees the law school's social media, and produces visual identity and design work for departments and centers across Scalia Law.
Rob’s scholarship examines citation impact, legal scholarship rankings, and legal database usability. He has written on how legal scholars can increase the impact of their work, co-authored an article proposing a more impactful and inclusive approach to scholarship rankings, and helped launch an ongoing ranking of his own with colleagues. His recent work also explores the adoption of visual contracts in the United States.
