Biographical Sketch

Michelle Trumbo is the Assistant Director of the Legal Research, Writing, and Analysis Program, as well as an Assistant Professor. She graduated from the University of Maryland and received a master’s degree in Library and Information Science from the University of Washington. Professor Trumbo received her JD from Washington and Lee University.

After law school, Professor Trumbo was a litigator in private practice for several years. Before joining the faculty at the Antonin Scalia Law School, she worked at Indiana University’s Maurer School of Law where she taught in the first-year legal research and writing program and in the advanced legal research course. Professor Trumbo was previously Head of Reference and Instructional Services at the Scalia Law library. In that role, she collaborated with the writing faculty on the research component of the LRWA program. 

Most recently, while serving as General Counsel for an automotive services company, Professor Trumbo continued to work part-time at Scalia Law as an adjunct professor in the LRWA program and as part of the Flex-LLM instructional team. She is also the Executive Director of the Legal Information Preservation Alliance. Her scholarly interests include legal research and the preservation of legal information resources. 

Professor Trumbo is a member of the Maryland and North Carolina bars.
