Caps & Gowns

Cap and gown rentals may be ordered through the link below. Online ordering will be available until April 6. Cap and gowns ordered after that date must be done in person at the GMU Arlington Bookstore by April 17. A $25 late fee will be assessed to all orders placed after April 17.

Cap and gown rentals cost $129.98. You must select your degree type and provide your height, weight, and hat size.

The law school will cover the cost of graduation cap and gown for those graduates who agree to attend both the University Commencement Ceremony on Friday, May 15 and the Scalia Law School Law Commencement Ceremony on Saturday, May 16. Students who choose to attend only the law school specific ceremony will be required to rent their own cap and gown at the time of order. Students will be asked to make their attendance selection at time of cap and gown order.

Students who choose to attend both ceremonies and have their cap and gown costs covered by the law school will be required to sign in at the Friday ceremony. A law school staff member will collect signatures once students are seated in the arena at the Friday ceremony. If the law school does not receive an individual student’s signature affirming their attendance, then (1) the law school will presume the student was unable to attend the ceremony, (2) the student will be required to reimburse the cost of the cap and gown to the law school, and (3) the student’s transcript request(s) and diploma will be held until such time as the reimbursed cost is received by the law school.

Caps and Gowns will be distributed at the Arlington Campus GMU Bookstore during regular business hours: Monday – Thursday 9:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.; Friday 9:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. If you do not pick up your cap and gown by May 14, you must pick up it up prior to the Law School Celebration Ceremony at 11:00 a.m. at the Center for the Arts Concert Hall.
