"Thanks to Your Generosity, I’m Graduating with No Debt"
Cori Ast, ’23, is grateful to law school donors for flexibility provided by scholarship funds
As a new mom, receiving a scholarship from the Antonin Scalia Law School has tremendously helped my family. After spending more than a decade working for medical schools and teaching hospitals, I left my career for law school. I plan to practice health law and continue to aspire to half the talent of my remarkable former colleagues.
I wanted to become a lawyer in large part because I wanted a career that would challenge me intellectually every day. Scalia Law has certainly delivered! The school has an exceptional learning environment which frequently reminds me of my Midwestern roots—the faculty, staff, and students alike are sharp, friendly, collaborative, and hard-working. It’s an honor to try to keep up with them each day.
After graduation, my family and I will move to Kansas for a judicial clerkship with a judge in the U.S. District Court for the District of Kansas, and I have accepted a position at a big law firm where I was a summer associate when the clerkship concludes in 2024.
I will graduate without student debt thanks to the generosity of Scalia Law donors. This freedom from debt gave me the flexibility to choose a legal career path that suits my interests and my family. It gave us the flexibility for me to pursue this career and to feel financially secure enough on one income to grow our family—a dream we’ve had for many years. This is perhaps the most cherished opportunity Scalia Law has afforded me, as donors like you and the school have given my husband and me the opportunity to ensure the life we are building is the one we love living.
Thank you for supporting the school, for supporting my family and me, and supporting others like me here at the Antonin Scalia Law School.
