Scalia Law Professors Present at Prestigious International Conferences

Professors Gallanis and Dillbary
Thomas P. Gallanis and J. Shahar Dillbary

Professors J. Shahar Dillbary and Thomas P. Gallanis recently presented at separate international conferences. In April, Professor Dillbary presented at the 11th Annual International Meeting in Law & Economics. The event took place at the College of Europe in Belgium and featured eight thematic sessions, with two papers each. Roughly a month earlier and on the opposite side of the globe, Professor Gallanis delivered lectures and workshops at the KoGuan Law School of Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU), where he is a chair visiting professor, and to the law faculty at the University of Hong Kong (HKU). Professor Gallanis’ presentations included, “The Dark Side of Codifying U.S. Trust Law” and “Current Challenges in Legal Education and Higher Education.” In July, Professor Dillbary will also offer a keynote speech at the German Law and Economics Association (GLEA) Annual Conference, hosted by the University of Hamburg.

Both Professors Dillbary and Gallanis are relatively new additions to the Scalia Law faculty, joining the school in the fall of 2023. Previously, Professor Dillbary was a tenured professor at the University of Alabama School of Law, while Professor Gallanis came to Scalia Law via the University of Iowa, where he held the Allan D. Vestal Chair in Law. The similar paths continue, with both professors authoring casebooks. Professor Gallanis published the Ninth Edition of Family Property Law: Cases and Materials on Wills, Trusts, and Estates in February of this year, and Professor Dillbary is the co-author of Law and Economics: Theory, Cases, and Other Materials.
