Biographical Sketch
Donny Trương serves as the Director of Design & Web Services at Scalia Law, where he leads the law school’s digital experience with a strong focus on accessibility and usability. He oversees content management systems to guarantee security, stability, and scalability. Shortly after joining Scalia Law in 2011, he redesigned and rebuilt the law school website from the ground up using a mobile-first approach—at a time when responsive design was still in its infancy.
Over more than a decade at Scalia Law, Trương has transformed the front-end user experience and optimized back-end Linux servers. In collaboration with University Information Technology Services, he architected and launched Scalia Law Sites using WordPress Multisite. The network now powers over 50 websites, including research centers, economic institutes, student organizations, intranets, and faculty personal sites. His creative scope also extends to print media, where he designs brochures, postcards, and large-scale banners for admissions offices, institutes, and major campus events.
With over 20 years of experience in web design and development, Trương holds a deep passion for typography. When web fonts were first introduced, he recognized a lack of practical resources and wrote Professional Web Typography to bridge the gap. He also identified widespread missing diacritics for the Vietnamese language in standard typefaces, prompting him to publish Vietnamese Typography. Today, he collaborates with type designers and foundries globally to expand Vietnamese language support across modern type families.
Trương holds an MA in Graphic Design from George Mason University’s School of Art and a BA in Digital Art and Multimedia Design from La Salle University. Outside of work, he is an avid snowboarder, skier, rollerblader, and skateboarder. During the winter, he teaches snowboarding and skiing at Whitetail Resort.
