Scalia Law School Hosts 15th Annual Manne Faculty Forum

On Friday, August 22, 2025 Scalia Law School hosted its 15th Annual Manne Faculty Forum, an event sponsored by the Law & Economics Center (LEC).
The Manne Forum allows junior Scalia Law faculty a unique opportunity to workshop their latest, in-progress scholarship with two official commentators: one scholar invited from another university and one scholar from within the Scalia Law community. A roundtable of discussants comprised of Scalia Law faculty provide additional critical feedback. The authors use the comments they receive to refine their research and improve their papers before submission for publication.
This year’s Manne Forum featured two scholars. Yijia Lu presented “Are Policymakers Too Worried About Crowding Out?” The official commentators were Scott Baker, William F. & Jessica L. Kirsch Professor of Law, Washington University School of Law, and James C. Cooper, Professor of Law and Director, Program on Economics & Privacy, George Mason University Antonin Scalia Law School.
The second paper at this year’s Manne Forum was written by Erin Meyers Matsick and titled “Intentionally Defective Products.” The official commentators for Professor Meyers Matsick’s paper were Matthew Lawrence, Associate Dean of Faculty and Professor, Emory University School of Law, and J. Shahar Dillbary, Professor of Law and Associate Dean for Faculty Research, George Mason University Antonin Scalia Law School.
The Manne Forum is named in honor of Henry G. Manne, the founder of the LEC and Dean of the law school from 1986-1997.
